Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Alice Menard, age 86, who passed away Saturday, September 29,2012 at 10:00 a.m. at her residence in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. Rev. Msgr. Russell J. Harrington, VE, pastor of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton, will officiate at the services. Readers will be her granddaughters, Rebecca Bundrick and Nicole Patin Guidry. Giftbearers will be Amanda Bundrick and Brian Landry.
Musical selections will be provided by Valerie Andrus. The songs will be How Great Thou Art, Peace in the Valley, Let There be Peace on Earth and Amazing Grace.
Ms. Menard was a native of Cankton and a lifelong resident of Lafayette. She was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette. Alice worked as a seam stress most of her life, having worked for Sandy Austin, Abdallas and then she became self-employed. She always enjoyed being at the camp in Pecan Island with her best friend of thirty years, Norris LeBlanc. She enjoyed life to the fullest.
Survivors include two daughters, Leota Elkins Landry "Lee" and her husband, Clyde, of Lafayette and Anna Bundrick and her husband, Hal, of Bossier City; one son, E.J. Patin and his wife, Brenda, of Breaux Bridge; seven grandchildren, Michelle Landry Mire and her husband, Scotty, Brian Landry, Daniel Patin and his wife, Violet, Kevin Patin and his wife, Melissa, Nicole Patin Guidry and her husband, Coby, Amanda Bundrick and Rebecca Bundrick; ten great grandchildren, Brandon and Bailey Mire, Conner Landry, Logan Patin, Mason, Jayden and Carson Patin, Kaitlyn, Anna and Matthew Guidry; and one sister, Clarisse Barousse of Jennings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean Jacque Menard and Marelia Lantier Menard; one brother, Isaac Menard; and five sisters, Lauris Broussard, Belizare Courvelle, Hazel Guilbeau, Eugenia Mathieu and Wilma Patin.
A rosary will be prayed at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. Tuesday until service time on Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Clyde Landry, Brian Landry, Scotty Mire, Daniel Patin, Kevin Patin and Coby Guidry.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her wonderful neighbors, Jay and Bertha Lavergne, Mark and Lisa Armstead, Roland and Bernadine Journet. Raven, you were my mother’s guardian angel. You provided so much love, compassion and support for my mother. Thank you for the impeccable care you provided. I would also like to say thank you to my husband, Clyde, Michelle, Brian and Amy for all the love and support you provided during my last eighteen months with my mother.
