Funeral services will be held Friday, February 15, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in Melancon Funeral Home in Carencro for Clayton Bernard Degeytaire, age 82, who passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 6:10 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. Pastor Jacob Aranza of Our Saviors Church will officiate at the services.

Mr. Degeytaire was a native of Breaux Bridge and a resident of Carencro. He was owner and operator of Clayton Degeytaire Builders for over 20 years. Mr. Degeytaire was a veteran of the military, having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and had been a member of the Carencro War Veterans and V.F.W. Post #9822. He loved fishing, dancing, and family.

Survivors include three sons, Millard J. Degeytaire and his wife, Sandra, Richael J. Degeytaire and his wife, Jan, and Stanley C. Degeytaire, all of Scott; three daughters, Virgie Begnaud and her husband, Randy, of Lafayette, Eva Prejean and her former husband, Michael, of Carencro, and Amentha Sifton and her husband, Steve, of Scott; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Degeytaire of Lafayette; thirteen grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Anna Breaux; one son, Richard G. Degeytaire; his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Alcee Pierre Degeytaire and the former Ada Comb Degeytaire, both natives of Breaux Bridge; one great grandchild, Macey Menard; and two brothers, Chester Degeytaire and Claude Degeytaire.

A rosary will be prayed by George Derousselle at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Thursday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Friday.

Pallbearers will be Millard Degeytaire, Richael Degeytaire, Steve Sifton, Brad Begnaud, Blayne Prejean, and Ryan Degeytaire. Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Degeytaire, Ash Sifton, Clay Nelson, Ricky Breaux, and Carlton Degeytaire.
