Julia Batiste Chukwura

FAIRBURN, GA ~ Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2013 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Scott for Julia Batiste Chukwura, age 53, the former Julia Batiste, who passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA.

Interment will be in St. Martin de Porres Catholic Cemetery in Scott. The Rev. Peter Emusa, pastor of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Scott, will officiate at the services.

Mrs. Chukwura was a native of Houston, resident of Carencro for most of her life and a resident of Fairburn, GA.

Survivors include her husband of thirty two years, Charles Chukwura, Sr. of Fairburn, GA; two sons, James Batiste of Crowley and Charles Chukwura, Jr. of Fairburn, GA; four daughters, Tinedca Alphabet and her husband, Damarcus of Ellenwood, GA, Quinchia Batiste of Lithia Springs, GA, Nina Chukwura of Fairburn, GA and Samantha Chukwura of Fairburn, GA; eleven grandchildren, Brian “BJ”, Terrance “TJ”, Jasmine, Martavious Jr. “MJ”, Damarious, Jasmine, Jalayzia, Jayden, Damarcus Jr., “DJ”, Jarmarion La’James “JJ” and Robin; two great grandchildren, Taylor and Cailyn; four brothers, Russell Batiste, Jr. of Lafayette, Rodney Batiste and his wife, Evelyn, of Lake Charles, John Wayne Batiste of Lafayette and Bobby Ray Batiste of Powder Springs, GA; two sisters, Beverly Ann Batiste of Houston and Diane Roy Senegal and her husband, Vetrone, of Breaux Bridge; mother-in-law, Mary Chukwura; three brothers-in-law, Kenneth Chukwura and his wife, Charlene, of Winder, GA, Chuka Chukwura and his wife, Chibogu, and Aurthur Chukwura and his wife, Angela, all of Onitsha, Nigeria; and three sisters-in-law, Amy Chima and her husband, Emeka, of Riverdale, GA, Ngozi Kewentoh and Chi-Chi Chukwura, all of Onitsha, Nigeria.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Antoine Batiste, Sr. and the former, Rosa Mae Roy; father-in-law, Samuel Chukwura and one sister, Joyce Ann Robbins.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
